Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that the Christian community is playing a pivotal role in the development of the country as well as the Federal Capital and deserved laurels for their services. While addressing the participants of the first ever Christmas Festival organised by CDA here on Tuesday, Chairman CDA felicitated the Christian community on this happy occasion of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

He said that the Christian community is playing a pivotal role in the development of the Federal Capital and deserves laurels for their services. Tahir Shahbaz said that the CDA is the only organisation, which pay bonus to Christian employees on the eve of Ester and Christmas. The practice of lighting up Christmas tree on behalf of CDA began three years ago and is being expended with each passing year to add more colours to the Christmas celebrations. This year, on his direction, Member Administration, Munir Ahmad Chaudhry supervised the arrangements of Christmas celebrations and Christmas tree has been lit-up in front of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited at Zero Point, said the Chairman CDA.

Chairman CDA said that the Authority has always met the demands of Christian community, adding that the building plan of Full Gospel Assembly (FGA) Church has been approved. On the demand of Christian community for organising the Christmas Festival on permanent basis on the eve of every Christmas in future, the Chairman CDA assured that CDA Board would consider the demand in its meeting.

The Chairman CDA called upon the religious leaders of the Christian community to pray for the peace and prosperity of the country on the eve of Christmas celebrations. Syed Tahir Shahbaz along with CDA officials and elders of the Christian community cut the Christmas cake. Christian children presented colourful tableaus and amused the ceremony with Christmas songs.
